Felt Flat Roofing in the North East Climate
The biggest enemy of a felt roof in Newcastle is standing water, and a roof with poor falls will fail early no matter how good the felt. We make sure the deck drains properly before any felt goes down. Modern polyester-reinforced felt copes far better with freeze-thaw than the old bitumen rolls. On garages and outbuildings it remains a sensible, budget-friendly option that holds up to North East winters.
Phil has felted countless flat roofs across the city and surrounding towns over the past two decades. He handles the torch work himself on most jobs, so the detailing around upstands and edges is done right.

Common questions
Questions about Felt Flat Roofs in Newcastle
Answers to the questions we are asked most.
How much does a felt flat roof cost in Newcastle?
A typical garage felt roof runs from around 1,200 to 2,500 depending on size and deck condition. Larger extension roofs cost more. We give a fixed price once we have seen it.
Do you charge a call-out fee for felt roof quotes in Newcastle?
No call-out fee. The quote is free and Phil comes out to take a look himself.
How long does a felt flat roof last?
A properly laid three-layer torch-on felt roof lasts 15 to 20 years. The key is good falls and a sound deck underneath, which is what we always check first.
How long does it take to fit a felt flat roof?
Most garage and extension felt roofs are done in one to two days. Larger roofs or those needing new decking may take a little longer.
Is your felt roofing guaranteed?
Yes. We use trade-grade torch-on felt systems and back our workmanship with a guarantee. Phil only fits felt he trusts to last through North East weather.
Which areas near Newcastle do you cover for felt flat roofs?
We work across Newcastle and the North East, including Heaton, Gosforth, Gateshead, Walker and Wallsend. Ring us if you are close by.
